What makes it a Best Place to Work:

The Eye Surgery Center of Michigan, a partner of St. John Providence Health System, has been named as one of the "100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare." The recognition comes from Becker's ASC Review/Becker's Hospital Review, national healthcare publications. The 2011 list was developed through nominations and research, and the organizations were selected for their demonstrated excellence in providing a work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development and quality patient care.

The Eye Surgery Center of Michigan features 10 physicians specializing in Ophthalmology and ocular surgery. Our elite team of ophthalmologists use the finest equipment and advanced technologies to perform small incision cataract and glaucoma surgeries. Located at 3455 Livernois in Troy, the Eye Surgery Center of Michigan was developed by local physicians, in partnership with St. John Providence Health System to create a state-of-the art ambulatory surgical center.

“We are intently focused on safety and quality patient care. Each patient receives a satisfaction survey upon discharge from the center. Each survey is reviewed by management and results are discussed at quality improvement meetings. Our dedication to patient satisfaction is a direct reflection of our staff’s professional commitment,” says Michael Cosgrove, Administrator at the Eye Surgery Center of Michigan. The center encourages and promotes teamwork amongst its staff. One way that the staff’s efforts are acknowledged is through the center’s “Star Rewards Program”. Employees may nominate their peers as a ‘star’ if they observe another staff member going above and beyond in their work efforts. Each month, administration randomly selects a ‘star’ and rewards that staff member with a gift card.

The Eye Surgery Center of Michigan is also focused on promoting the health and wellness of the staff. Twice each year, the center conducts a ‘Biggest Loser’ weight-loss competition to promote healthy habits and lifestyles. In addition, a recycling program was recently implemented and now most of the packaging material that enters the building is recycled. This Eco-friendly decision was based upon recommendations by our staff, and we have successfully reduced the garbage collection at the center. "Our workers are all veterans in the healthcare industry. They are committed, professional individuals and we recognize the positive work ethic of our staff is hard to come by," says Cosgrove. "This dedication helps make our center one of the best places to work in healthcare."
